Description
This collaborative poster and writing activity is inspired by Dylan Thomas’ poem, “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night.” It is his most famous poem. National Poetry Month is celebrated in April. With this poster, you can celebrate any time of the year. This activity and display would be a perfect companion for concluding a poetry unit or poet study. Collaborative posters are a great educational learning activity and a much needed brain break! The 3.3 feet x 2.6 feet poster will look great on our classroom wall, bulletin board, classroom door, hallway, lobby, or library.
This classroom resource includes assembly instructions and helpful teacher tips to make it even better!
Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night collaborative poster includes:
★ A complete image of what poster should look like when it is finished.
★ coloring instructions on poster piece.
★ 1 writing prompt response sheet. (see preview where you can see the prompt).
★ Explicit and complete directions from start to finish
★ An optional row of pieces in the event you have more than 25 students
★ A one-page coloring sheet (8.5 x11)
Middle school and high school students love to color. We deal with distractions and a lack of motivation in all classrooms. A brain break like this will help lead to better student outcomes and behavior, especially during high stakes testing, before holidays, culminating a unit, after a test, indoor recess, or just because…It’s Friday!
Collaborative posters from Danielle Knight meet the following criteria:
★ They require students to move. Classroom movement allows for students to communicate.
★ All come with a writing prompt and response sheet. The writing prompt is either tied in with reading comprehension, a personal reflection, quote analysis, citing evidence from the text, or personal opinion response.
★ The final product requires all students to be involved. Unlike group work, a collaborative poster depends on 100% participation.
★ They can be completed in one class period.
★ They require very little prep. You will only need to print this one time per class! That’s it. Sound like no prep to me!
★ No tiresome set up or materials are needed – crayons, colored pencils, scissors, tape or stapler.
★ They do NOT require the use technology.
★ They are student centered and fun!
